Lack of Insight or Anosognosia

Anosognosia is a symptoms of some severe brain disorders and simply means that the ill person doesn't have insight to see that they are ill. When a person with Bipolar decides they are well now because they feel better and must not need those meds any more, often times it is because the lack they insight to recognize that BP is a cyclical illness and will likely come back a wreak havoc in their lives again if they are unmedicated. In the mean time, we are left to watch out loved ones make poor choices, struggle with the pain and suffering from the illness, and try to manage our own reactions.
