Welcome to Brainstorm chat!

Brainstorm chat is provided as a place for parents of children with Bipolar disorder to meet and socialize and share the ups and downs of raising a child with pediatric Bipolar. We hope you feel support and camaraderie. You are truly not alone in your parenting journey.

Here are some pointers for successfully using chat:

  • Brainstorm chat needs to be PG rated. There will be times when discussing difficulties with our children that things may be graphic, and that is not to be discouraged in any way, and we want to be a family friendly site so please respect our general standards for language and content. Please see additional rules listed below the chat box.

  • Please report any problems with chat to webmaster.

Chat room safety

* Be careful. People aren't always who they say they are. It's easy to create a false persona.
* Safeguard your personal information. People only know what you tell them. Avoid giving out information like your name, age, picture, phone number, or address. Even if you only occasionally reveal private details, a determined user can assemble these pieces into a complete profile.
* Use the block feature. Don't worry about tactfulness -- if you feel threatened by someone, immediately block the user. Pull down the Commands menu and select Ignore List.
* Let us know. Users with the "@" sign before their names are room operators. Feel free to send them a private message if you have any concerns. If they aren't able to help you, email webmaster @ bpinfo.net.
* Above all, use common sense. Remember, it's just chat.

We encourage you to learn more about chat safety by visiting http://www.chatdanger.com/chat/safetyadvice.aspx and http://www.getnetwise.org/safetyguide/technology/chat. These tips are partially based on their recommendations.
