Thanks, Kimberly, but I've read it before. Smiley We've actually done amazingly well with this loss. I think it really helped that we knew what the outcome would be for 3 weeks so we had a chance to say goodbye, give her lots of love and treats and we all knew that she would be better off without the pain in the end.

Ohhhhhh    grouphug  there is nothing sadder than losing a furry kid - I'll have over 20 pets waiting for me over  at the rainbow bridge----

If you haven't heard of that -- it's a grief site to google for losing a pet -- a beautiful poem about  - where they cross and wait for us   fuzzy smilie  It might help your family.

Well, Ms. 18 is about to start online school to finish off her last 2 credits for her diploma. She got a great start over the summer with doing the online school but the class ended up being way beyond what she could do. We've moved her to classes that will more appropriately fit her needs and hope will allow her to be more successful. Even though she was unable to finish the summer class, she learned TONS of things, especially about herself, that will allow her to be more successful.

We recently saw Ms. 18's pdoc and are getting ready for the winter blues. Due to the fact that this will be the first year she will NOT be in a school building, we are holding off starting an AD until we see how she does. We all understand that the social/emotional pressures at school have been major triggers for her. Crossing fingers that things go better this year.  thumbs up

I'm gearing up for going back to work. It should be an interesting year. Smiley

Yea! I'm glad there was finally a placement for Derek. Smiley Sounds like it might be just what he needed. Not surprising that he still needs Lamictal. It's not uncommon for kids with AS to need medication for various issues similar to BP (and it might even be a combination of the two).

Congratulations on the job! Make sure that you are doing things to help you de-stress. Remember, in order to take care of others, you first need to take care of yourself.

State found special Mental health funds for derek to attend mental health residential -- they have a dorm there just for asperger's but there is one kid ahead of him for that --- the dorm he is in is with the older kids -- he prefers them -- but one is always riding his ass -- Ipod stolen his first week -- had his med list and other identifying info...uggg -- he has to get up at FIVE THRITY AM!  Alternative school 1/2 days for now -- was hoping for GED shortcut but he's sooooo far behind since he left 10th grade in Dec.  I can call him - but he can't call me but twice a week -- although they have really bent that one !  He has gone from miserable / hysterical 100% of the time to about 75%.   The longest they will keep him is till Feb....with a monthly review in between.

Its not the most appropriate placement but he is getting outside fuzzy smilie fuzzy smilie  he's the robin williams of the house.  There is a pool, trips to game store - no locks or fences -- therapy / psychiatrist who listened to me----

We were in the middle of trying to go off lamictal for ruling out bp --- wellllllllllll  -- he was posturing at me - treating me like dog shit - getting angry - always appologized later - but significant difference - So he's going back up on it -- can't have him liviing here without mood stablizer....

OH AND I GOT A JOBBBBBBBBBBBBB!   State worker - helping place kids in relatives homes, foster care, residential -- ironic  -  42 paid days off a year....only took me a year to get a damn job.....Scares me to think this is the last job on earth I would have picked - but I dont' have time to be picky -- worry about some big kid NOT wanting to go wherever I'm supposed to haul them off to -- guess that is when cops can be used.....  the only big bonus is that I can get my License to do therapy if I can make it 2 years.   They told me it was Extremely stressful..

Derek has driven up my bloodpressure so high -- this job better not give me a stroke --- hey but I'll have health insurance for the first time in 10 years LOL---Have NO idea hotw to keep the structure here for derek that they create if I'm gone 50 hrs per week -- jester

Does anyone know anyting about accomodations for a state GED?

thanks!

We said good-bye to our dog, Cocoa, today. She was much loved by all of us. Everyone is doing okay. I think it helped that we knew this day was coming for a while so that we were prepared.
