Mood Stabilizers       

According to all treatment guidelines for bipolar disorder, mood stabilizers should be the first-line medications in treatment, with lithium being the first recommended course of treatment. They are often used for other disorders as well; primarily the anti-convulsants are used to treat seizure disorders but are also used in some cases for unipolar depression, autism spectrum disorders, schizophrenic disorders and anxiety disorders.
